Great article. I think dynamic content (if relevant) is always a winner. Rss, twitter, facebook feeds where appropriate will keep a site current on a daily basis good for the client & potential customers. I particularly like the grid layout used in your example, so simple but it effectively breaks down what would be quite a copy heavy page into bite sized chunks!

The main thing that I was thinking about when I read this was that, when starting your own business, it helps to have clarity about your motivations - our reason for doing something and something with as many challenges as that, has to come first. Mine was the desire to succeed or by my own efforts. Other people may be more interested in having more control over their income or simply want a new challenge.

Whatever your reasons, write them down and include them in your business plan. Revisiting them regularly will help keep your motivations at the front of your mind. When we are strongly motivated to do something we are more likely to do it - even when the going gets tough....and at times it will.

Thanks for the post, Peter. I assure you, I'm quite sane, and have also started and sold several companies, using solid marketing and traditional applications, mixed in with new social media tools. My point is simply this: Social Media, on its own, is nothing. I wouldn't hire a social media expert without marketing experience, the same way I wouldn't hire a marketing expert without knowledge of social media.

In the future, feel free to email me and ask me if I'm insane or bipolar before posting - I'm happy to let you know the truth.

Cheers,
